ABOUT THE SUNSHINE COAST: INFO, PHOTOS & LINKS

You can independently visit the Farmer’s Market on Saturday morning in Gibsons or Sechelt.

There are many restaurants on the waterfront to enjoy, including the Beachcombers Restaurant, which celebrates the famous TV show “The Beachcombers” filmed in Gibsons. There is a First Nations Gallery near the Sechelt Farmers market.

Clean Lakes are within 45 minutes of Gibsons, and offer swimming for those who like a sandy entry. More isolated lakes in wilderness areas offer solitude, tranquility, but are less likely to have sandy gently sloped entries.

Kayak lessons and rentals can be arranged in Lower Gibsons.  If you are interested it is important to book ahead.

Feel free to email us with questions or requests.  We do our best to provide our guests with as much information about this area so they choose the best way to enjoy their holiday time.

During the summer months a refreshing swim or snorkel at Pebble Beach (5 minutes from Cedar Rose) is enlivening.  The water is crystal clear and the coastal rock formations, and birdlife are uplifting.

ENJOY CULTURE AND NATURE ON THE SUNSHINE COAST

BEACHES AROUND GIBSONS
Enjoy beach combing, swimming, enjoying sunshine and sea birds. You can walk, cycle, drive or take the bus to Pebble Beach, Secret Beach and many others just 15 minutes from the Cedar Rose B&B.

SOAMES HILL
If you enjoy hiking, this is a worthwhile climb with a spectacular view. This short but steep hike leads to an awesome view of Georgia Strait, crossing ferries, surrounding islands, Arbutus trees and on a clear day you will  see Vancouver Island.

SMUGGLERS COVE HIKE
The drive to the trail start is about one hour from the Cedar Rose.  It is a lovely hike that includes both coastal views and lush rainforest. There are at least two places to swim for those who don’t need a sandy entry.  The trail ends at a bay opening into the Strait of Georgia.  This is a wonderful location to watch the tugboats, sailboats and enjoy the local marine life.  Seals are often seen popping out of the water, disappearing than reappearing next to a different rock.  The hike is considered easy with a few hand built stairs, some loose gravel, and a few slightly uphill portions.

CLIFF GILKER PARK HIKE
Cliff Gilker Park is a lovely easy hike in the rainforest only 20 minutes from the Cedar Rose. Cascading waterfalls, and rushing creeks with crystal clear water can be seen. They are more dramatic during early spring and autumn.  This hike is lovely any time of year. There are several benches perched high above the creek and little falls, so it is a meditative relaxing wander.

KLEIN LAKE
For those who love swimming and hiking head to Klein Lake (a one hour  drive) where you can follow a trail from Klein Lake to Ruby Lake and back. The views are spectacular and it is possible to swim in both of these crystal clear lakes.
